Beauty | Feet First with Dr. Scholl’s Express Pedi Foot Smoother

I have but one pet-peeve when it comes to gorgeous sandals in the summertime. Dry, cracked heels (and toes, too). Seriously, do you ever trail someone for half a block mesmerized by their callouses? Not only is it distracting, but it is doing your shoes a disservice. And I’m talking to the boys, too; some of you are the worst offenders when it comes to open toes and toe jam. Yuck! We could all use a little help from Dr. Scholl’s Express Pedi Foot Smoother.

The average woman (if I had to guess) gets a pedicure once every 2-3 weeks, in between which, she can use the Express Pedi to maintain her salon-kissed twinkle toes. Or, if you’re frugal like me, skip the salon altogether and do my own at-home pedicure. This must-have beauty tool uses an electronic foot smoother to remove dry and calloused skin quickly (and painlessly). It feels like a gentle massage (and is even better when operated by your significant other while they feed you grapes and sing your praises). What, just my house?

Another big worry is the whole issue of cutting callouses vs. micro-graining them. You see, when callouses are cut, the skin underneath is too raw to protect itself and therefore grows faster and thicker forming – you guessed it, yet another callous. When the skin, on the other hand (or shall I say other foot?) is safely smoothed away with a micro-grain roller, just like that on the Express Pedi, only the dead skin comes off revealing soft skin underneath that is ready to go. Ready for your high heels. Ready for the limelight.

Don’t forget to apply a bit of pressure when using the Express Pedi – this will make the skin extra soft and increase battery life. And if you’re just starting out and your feet are quite gnarly, Leeanne Colley from Tips Nail Bar says, “use your Express Pedi for a few minutes each day. Once most of the dryness is gone, use it 2-3 times per week to maintain smooth skin.”

And if you’re looking for the perfect nail polish shade to go with smooth feet? I highly recommend red. I once read the advise of a very chic woman who said that red on the toes in the summertime is absolutely delightful, goes with all colours and brightens up a tan.

What are your favourite red nail polish shades? Let’s talk pedis and pet-peeves! Come find me on Twitter for your chance to win a Dr. Scholl’s Express Pedi Foot Smoother!
