The Moment

Perhaps the moments most emblazoned in my mind are those spent lazying around all day, alternating from daydreams to replaying the events of the night before. Caution, these types of days are best spent alone, for the other person in the room will think you to have lost your marbles when you stare into the abyss of a cup of coffee looking for the answers.

My Dior Forever Foundation took me from morning to night, on one such day, wherein I shot these images, and later decided that I should just continue living out the day in deep reflection – like I used to. I mean, the sun sets way later nowadays anyways. It’s the perfect time to have an extra long day. My friends came over, I changed into jeans and a tee, we ordered Chinese and filled our glasses with wine. I lit some candles around the dining room table and bar cart. Left reading materials on chairs and counters for everyone to indulge in.

We’re so go-go-go lately, I miss the long weekends of long sunsets, suspended kisses and makeup that wouldn’t fail me in my extended state of bliss. Do you ever have these moments?

It’s the type of day you set aside to let whatever may happen, happen. It could begin with a newspaper crossword puzzle in a nightgown and end on the dance floor in the arms of another. Friends pass through. I hand them all the same newspaper clipping about the Globe Style Best-Dressed List in agony that none of us had made the cut – polemics ensue. Heated discussions around the harvest table with wine glasses half empty. Rolling on the floor laughing with wine glasses half full.

Jewelry, decadence, and my Dior Forever Foundation. This is how I want to spend my days in an infinite version of my ideal self, a memory that lives on deep in my heart, even after I wash my makeup off.

The Details

Dior Forever Foundation is now available at Hudson’s Bay. It’s best used layered over the Diorskin Forever Primer. I used a foundation brush to apply the product and I would say it is pretty much full coverage. My little dark spots and blemishes were completely covered in one application. The product also has SPF 35, and a true 16-hour wear. I spent all day in it and it didn’t budge. Even after rolling on the floor laughing. My skin type is dry with oily patches (forehead, cheeks, chin) so a little bit of powder goes a long way with the Dior Forever Foundation. I love the silky smooth finish but see it for yourself – I’m wearing it in this shoot.

In one of your Instagrams you mentioned “I hope my kids look back at these photos and think Mom was cool.” Um, if they don’t look back at that first photo & think “Mom was amazeballs” then ship the brats off to boarding school ;)

omg lol. imagine? mom and dad were social media losers. or worse, with no interest in style? BLASPHEMY! Idk I very much believe that you can instil values at a young age. Be kind, be respectful, always be chic. LOL
