Disclaimer: For those of you who are religious and think I’ve used Jesus’ name in a blasphemous way, you’re right. I’m sorry if I offend you but I also don’t believe in Jesus in that kind of way so let me go to hell in peace, ok?

Now – let’s start the blog post.

Fake Palms. What would Jesus say about my decor decisions? Well, judging by the price of silk palm trees on Amazon.ca, he would say I’m well over budget. You know, thanks to my wonderful girlfriends who have recently begun their wifely forays into interior design (and I mean that with love; I envy the decisions they have to make about drapery swatches) well yes, thanks to them I’ve downloaded the design app called Houzz. And subsequently, after a few queries into Art Deco interiors I now vehemently believe I must surround myself with fake palm trees.

You see how this is a slippery slope to troglodytism.

And when I say fake palm trees, I really mean silk two-hundred-dollar palm trees. And yes, I realize that a real palm tree would cost a thousand dollars and what I’m really paying for with the immortal kind is in fact, immortality. If any of you have seen the underrated cult classic, Death Becomes Her, you’ll agree that eternity comes not without a price. Of course, when it comes to palm trees as with cosmetic surgeries, according to Goldie Hawn’s character in the film, one is never enough.

Thanks to Houzz and whoever has been uploading these inspirational interior photos with palm trees adorning living rooms and such, I have decided to move my fundraising efforts away from a new handbag and closer to the nonliving plant species. If only someone would come up with a trend where carrying around your houseplants instead of a Céline bag was the new cool cool. Then I would be livin’ it up like Ja Rule or Judas or somebody who uploads their obnoxious model home on decor apps made for us plebs.
