Four Cities, One Card: PARIS

Four Cities, One Card: PARIS

If there’s one city in the world that is worth experiencing like a VIP it’s Paris. The fine wine, french cuisine, the shopping, the silk scarves and couture – everything in Paris, even sipping coffee and people-watching at one of the many cafes that clutter the city, is done in perfect luxury. It’s definitely the kind of place one can indulge in the travel privileges offered to cardholders of the Scotiabank Gold American Express Card.

The whole trick to traveling like a VIP is to take advantage of extra perks and privileges so that you have more money to spend on croissants and Goyard bags. For example, the Scotiabank Gold American Express Card will monitor any flight purchased using the Scotia Rewards program and let you know if a better rate becomes available, and will refund you automatically (certain restrictions apply). Another great perk? Special rates on luxury hotels, like 20% off the Best Available Rates and complimentary room upgrade (if available) as well as free amenities, complimentary breakfast and late checkout (where available). I mean, if that’s not snazzy I don’t know what is.

Well, my outfit is also pretty snazzy. I think it’s the quintessential Parisian getup with a touch of the je ne sais quoi (in the way of a velvet scarf – Parisian women LOVE their scarves!!!!) If you want to look VIP in Paris it’s important that your outfit meets two very important requirements: heels and bangs. Nothing is more French than a fringe and nothing is more Parisian than a pair of heels. Ok, those cobblestone streets might be the death of me but as the French aptly say: Il faut souffrir pour ĂȘtre belle.

Enough suffering for me, though – you know the first thing I purchased with my Scotiabank Gold American Express Card was a Priority Pass lounge membership. And, because I bought it through the Scotiabank Gold Amex Card, I got it 35% off the regular rate! Now I can sip a glass of wine while I wait for my flight and enjoy free WiFi. The Priority Pass gives you access to lounges in more than 100 countries and 300 cities worldwide. Don’t mind if I do.

Another thing I won’t compromise in my travel outfit is my luggage. Since I’ve begun to use my Scotiabank Gold American Express Card, I’ve already earned my bonus 20,000 bonus points and I’ve got my eye on a matching luggage set by Samsonite. Who says you have to use your Scotia Rewards just on flights and hotels? With the flexible points program you can buy anything from matching luggage to a Cuisinart Food Processor (also on my wishlist for when I tackle some French recipes at home). But I’m not sure if VIPs are supposed to cook their own meals…
