Jetset Passport | Louis Vuitton The Spirit of Travel Campaign

There isn’t a brand more emblematic of the jet-set lifestyle than Louis Vuitton. The LV accessories bag was my first designer purchase and apart from a 5-year stint with Gucci, it’s the only brand I accessorize with on a daily basis. When Nicolas Ghesquière was anointed creative director of Vuitton’s ready-to-wear, I thought things couldn’t get any better – until this morning.

Louis Vuitton unveiled The Spirit of Travel campaign shot by Peter Lindbergh and styled by – the queen of leopard print – Carine Roitfeld. Somewhere in South Africa, models Edie Campbell and Karen Elson were unleashed amidst wild animals and sand dunes. The resulting images and film are visceral portends of unexpected beauty – one almost waits for the baby tiger to bite back at the fashion crew that has invaded its natural habitat. But alas, it rests peacefully beside a Vuitton Keepall; a warm breeze captures the spirit of safari in blue jeans and black lace.

“To live is to travel,” the film announces at its close. I couldn’t agree more.
