I always love a good story. Leave it to the Swedes to create a watch inspired by a voyage around the world and a certain dapper gentleman who wore his watches on an old weathered NATO strap. No, his name was not James Bond, it was Daniel Wellington. Although the former, played by Sean Connery, also sported a striped watch strap. Needless to say, we’re talking about paramount style here.
The Daniel Wellington watches have interchangeable straps – I love mine in leather right now for the colder weather. Like the name says, it is just so classic. In fact, at a recent talk I gave at Ryerson University, I proffered the Daniel Wellington watch as the perfect timepiece to wear to a job interview – needless to say, a student came up to me afterwards wearing his own DW Classic Cambridge and we obviously high-fived.
Pedagogy aside, this watch is the perfect preppy accessory and if you’re into Scandinavian design like I am (hashtag: obsessed) do like Norse explorer, Leif Erikson, and make it nautical chic.
