Jetset Beauty | Shimmer or Shock?

Jetset Beauty | Shimmer or Shock?

Shimmer or shock? This is often the question I ask my face when faced with, well, my face in the mirror. How women decide their makeup look du jour depends a lot on the activity they’ll be doing (although a recent study – my own – shows that more women deem it acceptable to wear a full face of makeup, including pink frosted lipstick, to the gym), and secondly, makeup depends on elegance. Or in the case of the health club clown, lack thereof.

narsdualintensity Here’s the rules I usually play by: In the daytime I opt for absolutely no shimmer unless it’s fashion week; at night I will do shimmer for date night and shock for any event that could don the hashtag #turntup. NARS to the rescue! Launched on July 1st, NARS Dual-Intensity Eyeshadows are the only way to have your shimmer and eat it, too. You can apply the eyeshadows dry for a luminous, sheer look – OR – wet the brush and have your world rocked for an intense, opaque punch. I did it, and it was so cool. The colour totally changed when applied wet. And yes, this is an age-old trick but these eyeshadows are actually formulated to sustain both wet and dry applications meaning you aren’t going to ruin your product by wetting it and the difference is more than just light to dark pigment. The Dual-Intensity Eyeshadows are like two different products in one.

The twelve new shades are $33 available at Holt Renfew, Murale, Sephora, Hudson’s Bay and at www.narscosmetics.com. I’m wearing the NARS Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow in Dione. I’ve applied it dry to my whole eyelid, and then wet the brush to apply it inside the corners of my eyes and under my lower lash line. #turndownforwhat?
