Jetset Beauty | My Lipgloss is Poppin’

Jetset Beauty | My Lipgloss is Poppin’

How to be a lady 101: wear something, anything, on your lips. If I had a nickel for every time I left the house with everything but lips on, I could buy my way to womanhood. Unfortunately, the latter isn’t for sale. I don’t know if I’m alone on this one, but, nine times out of ten, I forget to wear lipstick. Unlike concealer, bronzer and filling in my eyebrows, putting on lipstick is not do or die, for me.

Have you ever heard about those women who say they feel naked without red lipstick? They keep reapplying every 15 minutes like an impulsive twitch, and I always wondered how they rid their lips of the multi-layered coats of red at night before bed or if they just have coral-coloured bedsheets to mask any residue.

And I digress.

I want to make a pledge to be more ladylike – and to wear more lip-stuff. Although I can’t promise I’ll become one of those red-lipped sycophants, I want to wear more of the lip-stuff I already like. Mainly, soft pinks and nude, namely NARS Belle de Jour, which would be the equivalent of smearing concealer all over my mouth (which I’ve also done).

I also really like my pink lipgloss when I’m feeling adventurous and willing to stray from corpse lips. This summer, NARS launched seven new lipgloss shades and I got to try Istria, a pink glacé, before it hits the shelves. NARS also reformulated their lipgloss with sea lavender for aging and nourishing ingredients to hydrate. I hear that Chanel makes a hydrating lipstick, I like to think the NARS lipgloss is the noncommittal equivalent, for girls like me, who can’t commit to tubes of lipstick with gold hardware.

Man, I feel like a woman.
