NYFW | Vampires & Sci-Fi

There is something of the past and something of the future going on in New York City underneath the snow-covered tents and I’m at home reporting live from my computer. You can take the blogger out of NYFW, but you can’t take NYFW out of the blog. Lemme suck my thumb at you a bit here.

Last night, it was fright night. User-generated runway in its second season, VFiles, gave stage to a horror movie-inspired fur stole by Hyein Seo. There was one with goblin heads on it but I think this one resonates with me more.

Earlier Organic by John Patrick turned to Fahrenheit 451 and introduced a metallic pant paired with cotton-quilted space sweater that is perfect for next year’s National Sweater Day. PS. Happy National Sweater Day.

Lisa Perry’s shoes are my favourite footwear so far (Veronica Beard’s shoes a close second, probably because those were all I could see of her collection on Style.com plus, it was set in what looks like a catacomb). But back to Perry whose fresh graphic lines and nouveau-60s tailoring made it easy on the eyes and the most visually stimulating collection so far.

Nicholas K could dress Shakira’s mistress (better known as singer, Rihanna) in military-but-sexy gear. Combat boots for the polar vortex work well right now and that sports bra is making me take a 15-minute ab break right before I comment on the last look.

And we’re back. I’m feeling ripped and ready for my interview with the vampire in this patterned maxi dress by Richard Chai. I might just wear it with my VFiles FEAR stole and scare the Imitation of Christ outta you!

BOO!
