Pump up the Volume with TRESemmé

Pump up the Volume with TRESemmé

I think women around the world breathed a communal sigh of relief when super straight, flat hair went out of style (along with chunky highlights and over-plucked brows). Seriously, if you haven’t convinced your dad to iron your hair on an ironing board at 7 o’clock in the morning before heading to school, you won’t nearly appreciate this post as much. But, then again, who doesn’t love voluminous hair nowadays? The good news is TRESemmé has made it even easier to achieve touchably soft volume with their new Beauty-Full Volume Reverse System.

The big secret to big volume is conditioning first, shampoo second. It’s that simple. Wet your hair like normal, then apply 2-3 pumps of the TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume Pre-Wash Conditioner into the palm of your hand and distribute it evenly from root to tip. Leave it in for 1 minute and then rinse. The fibre polishing actives bind to the hair cuticle like a layer of protection, keeping the hair soft during washing. Volume is great, but only when it’s soft.

Next, you shampoo. Work the TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume Shampoo into a lather, then rinse. Using the shampoo after the conditioner works as a gentle cleanse to remove excess weight while leaving an ultra-light conditioning layer on the surface of the hair to make sure your hair is bouncy and has lots of body.  I know it feels totally wrong to condition first (believe me, I’m on autopilot when it comes to my showering routine) but if you do it once, you’ll know exactly what you’ve been missing.

I always like to add a curl to my hair when creating extra volume, so I love that the TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume regime has accompanying styling products like mousse, hairspray and something called a hair maximizer, a fleximax and polishing complex, that creates volume while keeping the hair smooth. All you do is apply a small amount to damp hair, from root to tip, focusing on the lengths. Blow dry and curl using a curling iron or wand.

Do you brush out your curls? I find this adds even more softness to the look. I use a boar bristle brush to get velvety soft hair like a 1920s silver screen goddess. Now that I’ve shared my hair secrets with you, I’d love to know some of yours. This was more of a hair allergic reaction. I tried a keratin hair masque for the first time and broke out in the worst hives all over my body. While my hair looked amazing, the side effect was not one that I was anticipating nor would I have used the product knowing that would have happened. I did the small test amount and there wasn’t any sort of side effect but I guess the full blown amount was not something my body could handle.

On my wedding night my (then-husband) lit tealight candles all around the jacuzzi in our hotel suite. I leaned my head back into one of them.. my hair was burning & I didn’t know it. It ended up burning a few curls off my wedding-day up-do.. he had to grab my head & dunk it under water. Disaster!

I definitely need to work on changing my auto pilot routine. I am always half asleep in the shower. And figure out the curling iron…..
