Today I read an interesting article about fashion bloggers who are taking their blogs offline (or rather, never starting them at all) and focusing solely on social media. I wonder, now, if I wasn’t such a dazzling wordsmith and even a little bit full of myself, would I do the same?

I think it’s about timing. When it dawns on someone that they a. look good in pictures and b. know other people think they look good in pictures – that’s the time to start sharing. My time was around 2013. I know, I started blogging in 2009 (shoutout to my ’09 blogspotters) but it took a few years for me to transition from writing and arguably stealing random photos off the net to getting comfortable with styling my own outfits for my own shoots. Oh, there I go again talking about myself. You see? I need a blog.

But back to the photo stuff. It just made sense that I would post these photos first and foremost, on my blog. Nowadays, I feel like the blog is an afterthought (in terms of #OOTD). Sure, I’ll post this outfit here, but I’ll gram the shit outta it. Why? Because there is more satisfaction to see all the likes and comments flood through. It’s like getting a few hundred pats on the back just for washing your hair and putting makeup on, which strangely gives me reason to do it. Isn’t that pathetic? I only wash my hair when I know I have to shoot? Or maybe it’s just the wayzzz of the futurezzz. I don’t know what I’m saying; tryna be cool like @LuckyBSmith. You want a mindfuck? Start following some of these Insta-famous tweens. If they don’t make you feel like blogs are outdated, I might as well just delete this post right now.

So that’s that. If you decide you look good and you can navigate VSCOcam like a mofo, you’re probably NOT going to start a blog. You’ll create an insta, throw up a few emojis and call it a day. I still need a place to go on and on about things so you’ll find that here, but I promise you, I’m working on my insta as a place to really showcase the aesthetic in my mind that drives me every day cuz no way imma be left behind. Tell me what you think? @jetsetjustine

Girl, if I had your hair I would be taking selfies for days ;) I think people should go to whatever platform(s) they feel comfortable with. I would rather see a person who doesn’t like writing long form do more Instagram than put out fluff posts on a blog. But as a writing major I too like both! I wish I had a friend I felt comfortable taking pics of me around town and I would do it all the time! Where is a dating platform for bloggers looking for photographer boyfriends ;)

LOL opening line has me cracking up! I agree with you. Both have their different strengths and suited for different talents. If you can do great pics AND write a mean prose, you’re golden. OMG – if you started a Tinder app for beautographers, you’d be a millionaire. xoxoxo
