Jetset Shops | Animals and Arrows

Jade Jagger bracelet available at Kavut.com; Sarah Battaglia handbag; Louis Vuitton punchy sneaker.

The advent of sneaker mania has me dreaming up Huaraches paired with wide-leg pants with a lot of give in the crotch. I want to be a dancing sandman with enough bounce in my step to put you to sleep. One cannot possibly achieve such a feat with high heels on her, well, feet. I love watching fashion starlets walk in sneakers as though each step was an Olympian-grade lunge; it’s relaxing. (As opposed to a woman doing the reptilian digitigrade in 9-inch stilettos, which is generally painful to watch).

No, let the only allusion to animals come in the form of a printed handbag and not in awkward stances. For good measure, the arrow accessory is having a moment. It really grounds this whole look as it symbolizes the perfect balance between sport and glam.

I would pair all three of these accessories with wide-leg pants; very slouchy and a simple t-shirt. No graphics. Some women may want to throw a long wool coat over the look; if you’re in the business of long coats, get with this. Alternatively, you could also work this outfit with a t-shirt dress (very Celine and French) but only if you have nice ankles. Sneakers, as I’ve come to know unforgivably, are not forgiving on the legs. The best we can do is make sure they have a really low quarter (no high tops, oh god).

What’s your favourite (and unexpected) way to wear sneakers?
