People who dress perennially preppy leave a bad taste in my mouth. As the seasons dictate, it is absolutely, indisputably, impossible to have the same style all year round. Instead, I reserve the twee pleasures of classic dressing for spring. For me, this is never something that comes naturally. I have to try to wear a string of pearls. It is not how Coco or Mme. Dariaux would argue, the most natural reflex a woman could ever have (more so than lifting a car to save her baby) is to put on a string of pearls. In odd numbers, too. Always wear pearls in odd numbers.
So, how to wear these items I’ve handpicked? The fragrance beautifying cream works with most perfumes to extend their wear; I highly recommend using it in tandem with L’OCCITANE’s new Néroli + Orchidée fragrance. I would eat Néroli for breakfast, if I could.
The Alexia Fast tote and Haute Inhabit ring are the kind of accessories that will update even the most classic style. Man, I used to really hate tote bags. Nowadays, they are all I want to wear. Moving along, I’d wear the sleeveless vest on it’s own. A sleek pair of wide leg pants. Boom! Another option is the silk cotton check shirt, always a winner. You can do it with pastel periwinkle blue as a complimentary colour. I love saying that: per-i-win-kle.
Lastly, if you want the Prada retro classic look – the Orla Marianne Mary Jane is THE shoe to buy this season. I suggest wearing them with ankle socks and a capri pant with a bit of slack in ’em.
