The Gospel According to L.L.Bean

There are two types of women in this world. Those who have night sweats and those who don’t. I unfortunately fall under the first category; my nighttime ritual usually consisting of a minimum of one wardrobe change around 3am, layering a bathroom towel over my fitted sheet and pillow, and of course, going to bed with straight hair only to wake up with a perm.

I’ve tried everything. Sleeping with more clothes, sleeping with no clothes. Turning up the thermostat to 30 degrees. Eating ice cubes before bedtime. Taking a warm shower. Taking a cold shower. Black garlic. Tea tree oil and the wind removing pose. But without fail, I continue to wake up in a pool of my own sweat like clockwork, every single night.

If you’re reading this nodding your head like a Televangelist during the Gospel, your prayers are about to be answered. I have been chosen to give news of salvation unto you. I stand before you today to preach the good word of Supima Cotton.

A few weeks ago, I randomly bought a pair of pyjamas at The Drake General Store because they were cute, obvi, the last pair, and viciously reduced from $198 to $60. They are one hundred percent Supima Cotton, which after some research, I realized is quite expensive. Supima is Pima cotton that is made entirely in the USA. It is the “cashmere” of cotton. And guess what else I found out? It cures night sweats.

I wore the Supima Cotton pyjamas for one week straight and woke up every morning dry as a baby in a Pampers commercial. I think the cotton allows my skin to breathe, cooling me off without having to produce sweat. And just as I suspected, when I had to put my Supima Cotton pyjamas in the laundry and wear my regular pyjamas to bed (this was Friday night) I woke up soaked in sweat – so much so that I had to put a towel down on my bed. My poor boyfriend.

Instead of falling back to sleep, I started to Google where to buy Supima Cotton pyjamas, sheets, pillow covers, bathrobes. I want to Supima Cotton my life! You know what I came up with? Fucking L.L.Bean. That is the only place to get reasonably priced Supima Cotton sleepwear, in paisley print.

So now I’m one of those people who shops at L.L.Bean and I’ll be damned if I’m going to do it alone. So here’s a link to the PJ’s I’m going to order: www.llbean.com. Click through and repeat after me: Although I walk through the valley of the shadow of sweats, I shall fear no evil. For thou art with me. Thy L.L.Bean and Supima Cotton comfort me.

Amen.
