One of my favourite quotes from The Great Gatsby goes, “The late afternoon sky bloomed in the window for a moment like the blue honey of the Mediterranean” – and if you’ve ever been to Ravello or Ischia, you’ll know exactly what Fitzgerald means. Images like this make me want to adhere to a strict summer uniform of black and white so as to let the beauty that surrounds me fill in the rest of the colour spectrum. Isn’t it so mesmerizing how black and white is the only pairing that really lends itself to summer? Just think, black and white tiles on your bedroom floor and then – boom – a palm tree! So chic. So chic.
