Been following Erika My Free Choice on Insta for about a year now and it was only until a few weeks ago that I learned who the heck she really was – Italian, fashion blogger, last name Boldrin. Grazia.it girl, yet again. She used to have ombre hair but dyed it black, yet again.
She’s got a penchant for reflective lenses and comfy sneakers, t-shirts with the sleeves rolled up and something unusual in every outfit like a vintage skirt or a crazy gorilla print. Her outfits are ten percent unexpected and ninety percent on the money. So, my outfits should evince the same ratio: copy the street trend for the most part, adding a small incongruity like 80’s shoulder pads, or a silk scarf with track pants or both.
It’s a foolproof plan, like my new Barefoot Contessa cookbook, for when I’m staring at my ostensibly empty closet wondering what to wear (and when I’m about to reinvent the mac & cheese – with lobster, of course). So, when it comes to having killer style, it’s all about finding the lobster in your closet. And somedays, just settling for tunafish on rye.
