Anna Wintour proudly declared, “coats are the new handbag,” in the current September issue of Vogue. I couldn’t agree more. Braving single-digit temperatures paired with wind, rain, snow, sleet and just unfriendly conditions is something we’re all going to be re-living soon. In addition to the requisite, mid-winter visit to Miami, I’ve always been an advocate for luxurious outerwear – I mean, if you’re going to be wearing a coat every single day for seven months, it might as well be good quality and gorgeous. And the right coat can actually alleviate seasonal depression – or I’d be willing to bet my money on it.
Last year, I purchased my very first Sentaler coat: the signature, oversized hooded wrap coat in grey alpaca. We braved New York City together in January – the alpaca is light weight and surprisingly warm – ideal for long, cold days in the city. Bojana Sentaler, creative director, told me it’s because alpaca has microscopic air pockets that keeps body heat from escaping. You might want to call it thermal insulation, I call it salvation. It’s also hypoallergenic, organic, and eco-friendly. I mean, I wore this coat all through last Winter and here I am this season, going back to purchase another coat from her Fall/Winter 2013 collection. That’s amore.
The requisite pink alpaca coat for this season’s trendsetters. I styled it with a Missoni hat, J Brand jeans and Converse sneakers.
My favourite part about Sentaler coats is how they make you feel instantaneously glam. There are all kinds of finishing touches like custom buttons and hand finishes that are hard to find in luxury fashion nowadays, which is why I love these coats. It’s not just a fast fashion jacket that everyone is going to have – it’s a statement piece that will immediately only be associated with you.
At the Sentaler showroom, Toronto stylist, Talia Brown, helped me pick out my new jacket(s). Since Bojana will be on maternity leave soon, Talia will be heading the Sentaler showroom over the next few months so definitely look for her when shopping for your new Sentaler coat. We had so much fun that day, styling my favourites from the new collection. It all came down to the black trench vs the cobalt blue jacket. Me, the most indecisive person on earth pick between the two beauties? Ha….
The masculine overcoat is in for Fall – pair it with a wool hat like this one from Tiger of Sweden and ankle boots.
Ultra-luxe purple cape is definitely gonna stop the show. I love over-the-knee boots as Pucci advocates for this season, vintage culottes, Alberta Ferretti Philosophy knit sweater and Max & Co. cloche hat from Italy. I am the epitome of equestrian cool.
OMG. Sheared alpaca hair collar, trench, black mystery. This coat answers all my fashion week prayers.
Just when I thought I found a winner this coat happened.
Falling for two loves at the same time. Which coat do I pick! My heart is torn. Luckily, I totally believe in a polygamous relationship with outerwear. wink wink.
I urge you all to book an appointment with Bojana and Talia at the Sentaler showroom. Or you can check them out at The Four Seasons Toronto Boutique where they will be doing a trunk show during TIFF, September 5th – 8th. Afterwards, continually available at the hotel general store Boutique. Personally, I love going to the showroom and working one-on-one to find the perfect coat, I know it can seem a bit intimidating to shop by appointment only, but seriously, it’s like being spoiled! And if you mention EUROTRASH when booking your appointment, you’ll receive 10% off your purchase until September 30, 2013.
And by all means, if you’re a shop in pyjamas kinda woman, go to www.Sentaler.com and use the promo code EUROTRASH10 to receive 10% off your purchases until September 30, 2013.
Sentaler is located at 555 Richmond St. W., Suite 110 Toronto, ON, M5V 3B1. To book an appointment call 416 238 7480 or by email email@example.com.
