Hey guys, still in Italy. The other day we drove to Balsorano, a small town nestled between two massive mountains right at the border of Lazio and Abruzzo. Overlooking the town is Castello Piccolomini, a Medieval castle finished in 1460 by Antonio Piccolomini, nephew of Pope Pius II. It was home to many Italian noble families and is now a historical site as well as a film set. Anyway, if you’re into castles and all that King Arthur shit, it’s definitely worth visiting. The backdrop makes for some beautiful #OOTDs, too, as you can see.
Disclaimer, I love copying other people’s outfits. Bloop! I call it inspiration or paying homage. Besides, I don’t think any of us really come up with our own outfits void of all outside influence. The person who I copied surely copied someone else, and so on and so forth. Each time, a new permeation. I paired my thigh high Stuart Weitzman suede boots (which are amazing travel shoes as they work in every season and are light as a feather to pack, plus comfy and go with shorts, skirts, pants, and dresses) anyway, I paired them with a light ruffled dress in deep emerald. (Which I also love as a blouse, if you’re going more for a knight about to deflower his mistress kind of vibe)
You’ve gotta have some hard contrast to all that soft suede and diaphanous fabric, otherwise you end up looking like the court jester. Enter, biker jacket (cropped of course) and an antique necklace. Ok, another disclaimer, I got this particular silver metal necklace at H&M but it’s totally the look for less. Besides, I haven’t inherited any heirlooms in this century other than a beaded acetate necklace from my mom’s hippie days in 1972. Hardly castle-chic.
