If there’s one place you can wear a fire-engine red fur coat and still blend in, it’s New York City. Nobody bats an eye; it’s a city where anything goes in terms of fashion and chances are, Bill Cunningham has already documented a better version of your outfit on the street, five seasons ago. Incidentally, we just watched (finally) the Bill Cunningham documentary on Netflix and highly recommend it to anyone remotely interested in either fashion or hoarding, or both.
But alas, fashion is just as much about the new as it is about reinventing the old. In this case, the old is my boyfriend’s varsity sweater. This outfit is one part sporty, two parts glam and one-third preppy (the prep is all in the polkadot socks and patent leather oxfords). I think Bill would approve.
