Jetset Beauty | Are You a NARSissist?

I became a NARSissist in 2003. It was prom and I was finally able to convince my mother that wearing more than just blush was acceptable for a 17-year-old. Since blush was all I really knew back then (thanks, mom) naturally, I gravitated to the makeup brand with the best blush out on the market: NARS Orgasm. Sure, there may have been a rebellious undertone influencing my decision, given the name, but once I discovered Belle de Jour (the best nude lipstick, ever) I became a woman.

Not only are NARS products exceptional, the brand’s essence has come to shape my beauty philosophy. It is never about trickery or giving myself a totally new jawline, NARS is for the woman who doesn’t want to coverup who she really is – she wants to showcase her real beauty. I like to call it: the souped up version of myself. And NARSissists are fearless. Every time I visit my NARS makeup artist, Emily, she always suggests something different like, metallic green eyeliner and purple lipstick, to which I say: BRING IT!

For us fans and cult followers, NARS just released two limited-edition eyeshadow and blush palettes featuring all the best-sellers like my trusty Orgasm blush and Laguna bronzer. To kick-off the campaign, NARS unveiled three films featuring fashion and beauty it-girls: DJ Kiss, Natalie Joos and Lily Kwong. The films capture the very essence of a beauty routine, of becoming; how a city skyline and a book cover can inspire you to wear a thicker eyeliner, or influence your lipstick shade.

After watching each film, I almost felt compelled to pick which girl I’m most like – or aspire to be like. I think I’m a Lily Kwong: modern, edgy and hopelessly nostalgic. Which NARSissist are you?
