If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know I’ve partnered with L’Oréal Professionnel this year to embark on a hairstyle adventure unlike any other. First of all, I’m going shorter than ever before. Second, I’m saying goodbye to my blonde hair. And let me tell you, I must confess, it hasn’t been as easy as I had anticipated but my #GLAMTEAM at Brennen Demelo Studio, Kaila Baker (colour) and Anna Barseghian (style), have given me so much knowledge along the way. I really can’t thank them enough for being so dedicated to this project.
Earlier this month, I booked an appointment at my salon to get an undercut bob, and then I wanted to try styling it slicked back. I love the way Yolanda Foster wears her hair slicked back – yes, she’s my fave – so I really wanted to go for that look. It’s clean, it’s chic and it brings out your facial features. I was super excited for my new look. We took a bunch of before pics for your viewing pleasure as well.
I love working with Kaila and Anna. They are always so chill – we just end up laughing the entire time and drinking way too much coffee. I love that vibe. I hate anything too pretentious. But I also want to work with experts who are serious about hair. Brennen Demelo is one of the trusted salons among media and celebs in Toronto, and of course, it would make sense that they trust L’Oréal Professionnel products to achieve unparalleled results. Chill vibe and amazing hair? That’s why I’m devoted.
The first part of this look started with a good shampooing using L’Oréal Professionnel Pro Fiber Shampoo and Conditioner, which is literally like my saving grace. I typically get the in-salon treatment once, and then use the Pro Fiber product line at home, swapping out my conditioner for the Auto Recharge every 4 washes, which reactivates the original treatment. After a week of sun, salt and chlorine, I simply did one session with the L’Oréal Professionnel Pro Fiber Auto Recharge and my hair was back to beautiful.
Next, Anna gave me an undercut. Basically, if you have lots of hair (like moi) you might want to consider cutting the bottom third of your hair super super super short. Some girls even buzz it. The result is less triangle head; the rest of the hair lies flush to your scalp. This is especially crucial when chopping your hair into a bob (like moi). Anyway, I absolutely love the undercut; it has cut my blowdrying time down significantly.
After drying my hair straight and smooth, we pushed the envelope further with the sleek, slicked back style. I haven’t tried it at home yet, but it is super easy to do. We used Wet Domination Extreme Splash and L’Oréal Professionnel Hollywood Waves Spiral Queen to give the hair that wet looking, mouldable consistency. Anna used her hands to work the product into the hair, and then slicked it back. Once it’s set, she finished the look with Wet Domination Shower Shine, giving it that wet look even after it dries. Tricks of the trade, people, that’s all I got for you!
So, what do you guys think? Do you like my hair slicked back? Leave a comment below and let me know your thoughts!
This post was sponsored by L’Oréal Professionnel, however the opinions are my own. A big thank you to Brennen Demelo Studio for my new look!
Love the undercut on you. I haven’t yet found someone I fully trust in terms of haircuts but I have definitely found someone for colour. Just another step closer!

Once you find a great stylist, you NEVER EVER let anyone else come at you with a pair of scissors. Good luck on your quest! xoxo J
I love it! The layer and texture are so chic! They really did a great job to create a new hairstyle for you!

Thanks so much! Glad you dig the new hairstyle! xoxo J
Aww babe. Yolanda Foster…really? *sad face* She’s literally the worse, but if you like her, I’ll try to extinguish the hate I have for the housewife who still pumps her face full of toxins while claiming to go all-natural to get healthy. That aside, you look amazing. They should change the name “undercut bob” to “The Justine”.
awwwww yeah, I like her. Idk why but I do. Maybe her accent and charm fooled me. Maybe that’s why I like her lol. Anyway, thanks for the sweet words about my bob! I did my first hot yoga class with it last night and lemme tell you, it was GLORIOUS. No more sweat for me. Thanks for stopping by and commenting. It’s nice to know there are smarter people than me out there!!!!! xoxoxo J
I think going shorter looks good on you. As a barber stylist I find some of my client wanting to do something different but are hesitant to go short
I love short hair! I’ve had this haircut many times in my life, it’s my fave. :) But you gotta have the face for it. Some people look beautiful with short hair, and some look horrifying.
