Those of you who have been following my blog for a while will know that I am an advocate for fundraising through fashion. It’s a great feeling when I can take something like my love for runway shows and use it to raise money for an amazing foundation. Life is pretty good now, but one never knows when that pair of Manolo Blahnik’s might just be your last. No matter what life throws our way – it’s best to laugh and stay witty (like me) – and when you need that extra helping hand, foundations like Wellspring Cancer Support Foundation can make all the difference.
On February 24, at Holt Renfrew, some of the biggest names in fashion, finance and media gathered for the third annual Well Dressed for Spring fashion show and fundraiser. The models included Angie Morris, Elle Canada model search recipient; and Stephanie Gilma of PassMeAnotherCupcake.com, who finished her last cancer treatment just weeks before the show. Triumphs and tears were shared that evening, including a touching tribute to the late Linda Lewis, former editor-in-chief of MORE magazine and co-founder of the event.
For the evening, The Parsons Reject and myself ditched colours for black + white ensembles. Hers was prep, mine was sporty-spice-meets-Victoria-Beckham. And our bag game was totally smoking that night thanks to Cassandra’s unhealthy Celine obsession and my snakeskin-trimmed Bottega Veneta (thank you Bergdorf and Canadian customs).
