Waking up this morning to the #darkTO hashtag I feel so lucky to have power and Internet, as most Torontonians don’t. And although that means most of you won’t get to read this post until power is restored, which may not be until after Christmas, I thought I’d provide some reading material for those stuck indoors waiting for the ice to melt. The bad news is, the weather is expected to get worse as temperatures stay strong below zero. Stay warm and stay safe!
Speaking of staying warm, this is the time of year I like to bring out my Free City toque. Notwithstanding it being utterly ridiculous, I love a good pompom. Anyone who wears a pompom is safe to approach, let’s say, to ask for directions and they are more likely to hold the door open for you than someone who is just wearing a regular toque. The pompom is a sign of camaraderie and holiday cheer. Should you find a dud, i.e., a pompom-wearer who is truly a scrooge, you have the right to remove their hat (be careful, they will bite) in the name of Christmas. We must eliminate the unworthy and preserve the pompom elite. If you believe that you are indeed capable of carrying the honour (and the added weight) of a pompom, this post is for you.
