So, you want to know more about yours truly? You’ve come to the right place!
I started my blogging journey back in 2009 when I was completing my Masters in Film Studies at University of Toronto. Some of you may remember my old blog, Whatever Eurotrash. It’s still online – I refuse to shut it down – as it holds some of my dearest memories and rebellious beginnings.
I started Jetset Justine in 2013 to take my blogging the more professional route. I do this thing called blogging or influencing or content creating or everyday hustling, full-time. I love it. Nothing makes me happier than to hear my readers say that I’m the only blog they still actually read. That makes me super proud.
I put my heart and soul into my work. I just love to articulate things that everyone else has either experienced firsthand or shares a similar opinion – but didn’t really know how to voice it until they read my take on the topic. Things like full bum underwear and how to light your eyeliner on fire just so. You know, the important stuff in life.
When I’m not blogging and collaborating with amazing brands like PANDORA, L’Oreal, Chanel and CF Toronto Eaton Centre, I spend time contributing to other publications like 29 Secrets, Bay St. Bull and Huffington Post. I love to write and one day, I hope to publish a book, or two. I love playing the piano (I’m currently working on covering the entire Drake Views album), I love yoga, I love cooking, I love the symphony, I love rap, I love to travel, I love being silly and laughing until I cry, I can take a joke, I don’t take myself too seriously, I love to dance, I love to sing, I hate folding my clothes, I love spending time with my friends and family and I love love love love love my rescue dog, Sofia. I share my life with menswear blogger, Alexander Liang, who I often throw under the bus when I write about relationships and life – sorry, babe. But it makes for a great read so, what can I say? I read once if you date a writer you need to be OK with them writing about you – because it WILL happen.
And if it wasn’t for all my loyal readers, I would have never in my wildest dreams continued blogging after that summer in Amalfi when my friend and I thought it would be fun to start a temporary blog to chronicle our vacation. You guys are the reason I wake up every morning and hit the keyboard. You’re the reason I’m always thinking about what to write about next, keeping a notepad in every room to jot down any idea that comes to me. You’re the reason I thought it might be a good idea to take a risk and pick a career that has no certainty whatsoever; the reason I’ve spent way too many coffee dates with my girlfriends, ashamed, because they were buying houses, investing in RRSPs, traveling, shopping, etc, when I barely had enough money to pay for my coffee. You are the reason I did all that with a smile (ok, I cried sometimes, too). I still cry. Blogging is emotional and to be honest, I’ve never felt more alive than when I click PUBLISH. So let’s do it!
