Polar Vortex, Polar Schmortex. The challenge: a neoprene skirt and no jacket. In the spirit of Fausto Puglisi’s FW14 runway show – the silhouette du jour is fit and flare. A short, A-line skirt is something that easily flatters most women, but pray you, cellulite is fully disclosed here so wear tights if you’re over 25 years old.
Since Fausto P is not quite in my budget, I found a similar style at H&M for fifty bucks. And it’s neoprene. Have you ever worked with this pseudo-scuba material? It adds oh, about 5 pounds in every direction like a 4D optical illusion gone awry. Again, tights. This adds a sliming effect to contrast the width. I bulked up my top with a turtleneck, fur stole and orange cloche.
And yes, that is an octopus on my wrist. I bought that little guy in Italy a few years ago. Animal jewellery is a token of the jet-set. We don’t allow ourselves many embellishments, but when we do, they are always of the creature sort.
Jetset Outfit: H&M scuba skirt; Esprit orange turtleneck; Vintage Mink fur stole; Gucci wristlet; Gucci Hysteria boots; Max & Co. cloche; Le Chateau sunglasses.
