Taking a walk along the beach with my babe in the dead of winter. It sounds crazy; it was crazy. The retro snapback from Mickey & Co. by Forever 21 mixed with a naughty Barbie smoking a cigarette are an unlikely pair of fashion icons, but I couldn’t resist wearing them side by side. Looking at these pictures from a vantage point of a heated room and cup of coffee, there is something so surrealistic about them. As though it wasn’t below zero, a gust of wind colder than ice grazing my face as I looked up at the camera with tears in my eyes. It must be the magic of Mickey. “It all started with a mouse,” as Walt once said, and I couldn’t think of a more apt description for this outfit.
