My trip to the West Coast has been amazing so far except for being on hurricane watch for the past 24 hours. You see, we are allegedly slated to fly to Hawaii tomorrow night, but a certain storm duet is thwarting our plans. Julio and Iselle, the two hurricanes that are ending a more than 20 year hurricane-free streak for the Hawaiian islands. And of course, it has to happen when I’m going for the first time ever.
Back in Vancouver, the weather has been abnormally splendid in that it’s sunny and hot. We spent some time feeding the birds (in reality, dodging them) on Granville Island. There have been many pool days in the backyard just enjoying the hot weather and view – my god the views are unparalleled here. Now I know why Love it or List it Vancouver shows people dropping millions of dollars for some squalid shack with a west-facing window in the powder room.
We also got to spend the day in English Bay – lunch at the beachfront Cactus Club is a MUST! I had an amazing salad with avocado, egg and spicy pecans. There’s so much to see in English Bay, the beach and the art reminds me of a Californian beach city. In fact, there are so many comparisons to California (really it’s just a few kilometres south of Vancouver). The only difference is that the alcohol and taxes are still Canadian: expensive and steep.
Some of my favourite spots so far: Saje Natural Wellness (opening in Toronto this fall 2014!); White Rock Beach; JJ Bean Coffee; Cactus Club English Bay; A-maze-ing Laughter sculptures; J.Crew on Robson St; Westcoast Hot Yoga; Granville Island; Sunset Marina in West Vancouver.
Big thank you to Etnia Barcelona for outfitting me in pair of sunglasses from their Wild Love in Africa collection!
Love my Lacoste car shoes more than anything these days! They are beyond walking on a cloud.
Monkey see, monkey do at the A-maze-ing Laughter sculpture garden.
Feel so comfy cozy in my Birkenstocks – I’m so happy they are back in style!
Thank you Triangl Swimwear for sending me the amazing Winnie New York Noir bikini!
