With the advent of minimalist handbags, branded by their anonymity, like cult-favourite Mansur Gavriel and West Coast ethics-first company, Everlane, if you do own a bag with any visible embellishment or branding you’re sadly not on trend. My new favourite to the punch is Philip Bree (of the Bree handbag family) and his new line of knapsacks, totes and top-handles in natural leather, linen and brass. I hear they develop a pretty neat patina with wear – so that’s something to look forward to!
