For those of you who follow me on social media, you will have seen me sneaking into Salon Tocci on Wednesday for an appointment with renown Redken Artist and Hairstylist, Sean Godard. I’m sure you were all on the edge of your seats waiting to see how Sean transformed my hair colour using the innovative Redken colour system, Blonde Idol. One of the best in hair care and colour, I obviously turned to Redken when deciding it was time to go blonder for summer. And let me tell you, blonder I went.
I’ve always admired girls who have that quasi-silver hair colour (and don’t even get me started on full greys), so when I met with Sean for my consultation it was decided we were going to go as light as possible. Since the Redken Blonde Idol hair colour line is very gentle on the scalp and hair, it was so much easier (and safer) to get that ashy tone I’ve always coveted. And you all know how much I love my balayage – Sean pumped up the jam on this by doing a root lift first, then babyllights (which I had never heard of but are basically a micro-painting technique to achieve thin thin thin highlights) and then balayage (complete with strips of cotton to separate the hair as Sean hand-painted each section). The results? Well, I think a picture is worth a thousand words.
What’s great about the Redken Blonde Idol line are both the in-salon and at-home components that compliment one another. I’m pretty much a control freak when it comes to my shampoo and styling products, so knowing that I can use the Redken Blonde Idol at-home hair care makes me feel so much less stressed about ruining my colour. Lord knows getting your hair done isn’t cheap – the last thing you want to do is use the wrong shampoo and conditioner. Instead, I’m putting my hair in the best of hands (I will be reporting back in two weeks time to let you know how the colour progressed) using the Blonde Idol Sulfate-Free Shampoo, the Blonde Idol Custom-Tone Conditioner, and the Blonde Idol BBB Spray – which is an awesome leave-in if you’re planning on heat styling.
I love that the Blonde Idol Custom-Tone Conditioner is actually customizable when it deposits colour back into the hair. So basically, as the weeks go by you turn the dial more and more towards the purple side, which tones the hair keeping it from being brassy, extending the life of your hair colour. I told Sean I want to keep this silver fox thing going for as long as possible – I think he created a monster :)
If you’re still struggling to get that blonde hair you’ve always imagined, I highly recommend trying the Blonde Idol hair colour and at-home product line. In fact, I’m going to give one lucky reader an entire bag full of Redken products including the Blonde Idol at-home line and more amazing Redken products. The prize is valued at $200 so it’s a big one! How to enter? Just tell me who is your #BlondeIdol either here on the blog or on social media and entering the contest below.
Good luck to everyone and do let me know if you like my new ‘do!

My #blondeidol, aside from my mom, is Grace Kelly! Epitome of beauty and class :)
Ugh! I love Grace Kelly. She was so cool. Did you see the AGO exhibit on her? It was amazing. They had her wedding dress on display.
Yes! I went with my mom to see the exhibit at the AGO! It’s because of my mom that I always see Grace Kelly as a true #blondeidol. She was a fan and passed her fandom on to me :)
And I love, love, love your hair! I have been transitioning from very dark brown to ash blonde and I love it! I’m never going back to brunette!
Amazing! Yes blondes do have more fun – let me know how the transition goes! xo

Oh no! There are some amazing products out there to bring your hair back to life. I highly recommend getting a Clay Treatment done. There’s a salon on dufferin and lawrence in Toronto that offers it called LoKi Studio. Not sure where else. It’s a treatment by Eufora. After 4 treatments my hair was brought back to life. xoxo hope that helps and thanks for the sweet words.
Your hair looks fabulous.
My #blonde idol is most definitely Grace Kelly. She was so elegant & graceful.
