Jetset WMCFW | Track Pants Are the new evening gowns

Last season, Montreal designer Mélissa Nepton, hit the ground running. She won the Target Emerging Designer award, designed a collection for Target, and in my opinion, fine-tuned her athletic-glam aesthetic.

For Fall 2014, Nepton upped the glam factor with soft crepe silks and metallic jacquards, all of which had me saying: Y-E-S. Thanks to style darlings and Air Jordans, tracksuits and runners are now acceptable street wear again (the time prior would be the years of Juicy Couture velour and before that, the Kappa pant craze of the late 90s). Nowadays, thankfully, the sports resurgence doesn’t require us to go full-out. In fact, it is certainly most chic when track pants are paired with an evening gown. Or when track pants are the evening gown.

Mélissa’s collection had both.

And if you’re asking me what type of handbag one should pair with such attire, it’s clearly the oversized lunch bag, which looks more like a mini-sized body bag, if we’re speaking in corollaries (and we are, indeed).
