Why You Need to be Obsessed With NOVA Plus

Why You Need to be Obsessed With NOVA Plus

I recently attended the launch event for Huawei’s latest smartphone, the NOVA Plus, here in Toronto. Let me tell you why it was one of the funnest nights I’ve had as of late. First of all, I got to meet Canadian astronaut, Col. Chris Hadfield, and get a signed copy of his book, An Astronaut’s Guide to Life on Earth. Secondly, I WON a brand new NOVA Plus smartphone (and my assistant won one, too)! Lastly, I got a star named after me at the event. I’d say that makes for a pretty good time, wouldn’t you?

The whole evening was about stars and outer space and we got to try out the new NOVA Plus smartphone in so many different settings like taking 4k video – that’s something I love about the NOVA Plus! I also love the custom filters and camera features (obviously). I take maybe a couple hundred pictures per day. My life is go go go, and I love that the NOVA Plus camera allows me to toggle from something like the “good food” filter (yes, that exists) and “professional” mode where I can actually change the shutter speed, aperture and white balance. I also love that you can take thousands of pictures on a single charge.

And for those in the know, the camera lens is super wide (yay!), with a 16 megapixel camera on the back, and 8 megapixels on the front camera. Selfie game just got so much better. Thank you. But don’t take it from me, try the phone out for yourself at Rogers, Virgin Mobile and Fido.

At the event, I took pictures of mixologist cocktails by Bar Chef and crazy delicious ice cream sandwiches – all with liquid nitrogen that gave the overall experience a very walking-on-the-moon sort of feel. I used my NOVA Plus phone to capture so many amazing moments, check my emails and tweet, using the Android 6.0 operating system, which I love. I even took a video of Chris Hadfield performing live on the stage. He is so talented; I’m in total awe of his achievements and perspective on life. Cannot wait to read his book!

My favourite part of the evening, however, was getting the star named after me. Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve always been drawn to stars – drawing them, reading them in poems like Robert Frost’s Choose Something Like a Star, and even getting three little stars tattooed on my back. Now I can say there is a star out there in the Universe that is name Justine Iaboni – how special is that! For someone who loves stars as much as I do, it was the perfect ending to a star-filled evening.

The biggest star of all? The new NOVA Plus smartphone.

I hope you enjoy all the pics I snapped at the event! Are you excited to try the new NOVA Plus smartphone? Leave me a comment if you plan on trying it out or if you’ve already tried it – I’d love to know your thoughts on the device!

xoxo

How cool! Not sure if it was big in Canada, but in the 90s in the States buying a star for your child/grandchild was kind of the thing to do :) Glad it’s coming back around!
