If there’s one drugstore brand of lipstick that is always in my makeup drawer, it’s Maybelline. Their Cool Watermelon lipstick got me through summertime in my twenties (now I only wear nude or concealer on my lips because I’m old like that). Good news is the Creamy Mattes are back, and with that, pretty nude shades like Nude Nuance and my personal fave, Clay Crush.
The inspiration for this season’s colour palette came straight from the runways (if you didn’t know, Maybelline has a strong presence in the backstage beauty sphere and will be doing all the upcoming beauty looks for WMCFW). Bold, matte lips are in style for AW15 as seen on runways such as Dolce & Gabbana, Prada, Emilio Pucci, Giles, Marc Jacobs, Donna Karan and 3.1 Phillip Lim.
I’m most intrigued by Vibrant Violet and Burgundy Blush. They are darker and I bet they will make me look like a vixen when I wear them with a super clean face and just a dollop of mascara on my upper lids. (Don’t ever ask my about eyebrows, though, because I keep those bushy and on fleek for all my beauty looks).
