The other day I found myself re-reading some books about British style and it is truly fascinating! Even though I wouldn’t normally consider myself of English pedigree – sometimes it’s exciting to step into another aesthetic. Naturally, I would turn to iconic fashion brand, Burberry, to recreate my own version of the British effortless beauty look with new and iconic products from the Burberry Beauty collection.
Sometimes I like to ask myself when it comes to makeup: Do you have a makeup crutch?
Well, do you?
Nude lipstick is 100% my makeup crutch. Heaven knows the hell I’ll raise if I forget to grab one of the many nude lipsticks I own (I own doubles) on my way out the house – in fact, I’ve started leaving nude lipsticks in my purses and coat pockets at all times just to avoid a potential Armageddon.
For spring, Burberry Beauty has introduced Burberry Kisses. The classic shade in the collection? Military Red.
Burberry Make-up Artistic Consultant Wendy Rowe says of the iconic Military Red: “ [it’s] the perfect most universal red which suits all skin tones.” I mean, it’s kind of hard to resist trying this lipstick especially when it comes in a luxurious metallic case with a magnetic closure. I already felt sophisticated just holding it in my hand. Packaging isn’t about being snobby, it’s about owning a small piece of luxury.
So, metallic case in hand, I made like a Brit and foreswore my makeup crutch one lip at a time. You know, the Burberry Kisses lipsticks are possibly the best to experiment with as they are designed to give buildable sheer to high coverage with each layer of application. I think I stopped at about 4 layers and it still felt very lightweight, and I still looked as posh as any Brit ever did. (The Burberry trench coat helps).
That’s the thing about classic British style – it’s effortless and natural with a bit of an edge. The Burberry trench coat certainly embodies that design philosophy with strong lines, luxurious textures and a classic silhouette. Start at the arch and work towards the tail of the brow. Use the brush to comb the inner corners of the brow into place to create natural-looking definition.
Burberry Fresh Glow Fluid Nude Radiance: A silky smooth primer that illuminates and brightens, while improving the wearability of your makeup. I love the pump applicator as it dispenses the perfect amount every time.
